Overtime collaborates with designer Fil-Am for Filipino-inspired clothing capsule

MANILA, Philippines – Sports media company Overtime and lifestyle brand ROKIT have teamed up with a designer from Fil-Am to release a clothing capsule paying homage to Filipino heritage.
Responding to Filipino love for basketball, Overtime and ROKIT enlisted artist Fil-Am Kristofferson San Pablo, creative director of Los Angeles-based company Vacancy Projects, to create the “Buhay” collection. .
It features illustrations drawn by San Pablo himself, including a ‘buhay’ basketball character as a nod to the hoop’s popular phrase ‘the ball is life’.
The collection also highlights various iconographies associated with life in the Philippines through a range of hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants, shorts and accessories.
âThe ‘Buhay’ collection is kind of a love letter to art, basketball and my Filipino-American upbringing,â said San Pablo.
âIt also reflects both my identity and that of Bam Barcena, Creative Director of ROKIT, as Filipino-Americans on the West Coast,â he added.
Tyler Rutsein, vice president, GMM at Overtime and OTE, spoke about the Philippines tracking their business, which also prompted the collection.
âOvertime is a global brand,â he said.
âA large subset of our subscribers are in the Philippines due to their love of basketball culture. We wanted to create something special especially for them and our larger audience. Rokit and Kris were the perfect partners for bring that vision to life in an authentic way, âhe added.
A Filipino, Lebron Lopez, currently plays in the overtime league called Overtime Elite.
The collection has already been released on Friday and is already available in the online stores of the three brands.
