Designer handbags put to death at London auction
A vast collection of high-end handbags will be on sale at an auction by Christie’s this month, which is expected to fetch more than $ 100,000.
“Handbags Online: The London Edit” is open for auction until 23 November, with bags, luggage and accessories on offer.
Highlights include handbags in a range of colors by French luxury leather goods maker Hermes, known for its $ 10,000 as well as the Birkin and Kelly ranges.
Topping the list is a Hermes Birkin 20 Matte Beton Alligator, White Togo & Swift Leather Faubourg Sellier bag, representing the storefront of HermÃ¨s’ flagship store in Paris, rue du Faubourg Saint-HonorÃ©.
Released in limited numbers this year, the bag has a price estimate of 80,000 pounds to 100,000 pounds ($ 107,832 to $ 134,790).

Other Hermes bags include a limited edition Fauve Barenia & Bog Oak Kellywood 22 herringbone pattern, which can range from 60,000 to 80,000 pounds, and a brilliant Cocoan Porosus Crocodile Birkin 35, adorned with 18k yellow gold and of yellow sapphire material. âMost of our customers use the bags because they are made to be used,â Andreani said, adding that the buyers were mainly private collectors.
